About

I am an educator that no longer has a classroom of my own and so have apparently attempted to recreate the classroom experience by filling my house with 5 kids. I must enjoy noise and chaos because it seems to follow me everywhere in the form of small humans (some who are now not so small actually). I continue to work in the schools as a literacy coach and am blessed to work with some fabulous educators who inspire me in so many ways. Raising kids as an educator is a blessing and a curse for my kids. I like to try and recreate the classroom here with charts and book clubs and fun new research based literacy “stuff”, but unlike in the classroom I have a pretty tough time finishing a book or following through on a chart. Audiobooks are our friend because we actually finish them.

My rocks are my God and my husband and my family who give me energy and strength and direction. Todd and I are lucky to have awesome siblings (and matching awesome siblings-in-law) and parents, including mine who are in town without whom this whole circus might fall apart. I often say I owe the fulfillment of my dream of having a largeish family to my parents and sisters who have picked up my slack and my children. One of the hardest and best things about becoming a parent is that you quickly learn there is no way to do this job without some extra people. I’ve got good ones.
